Shifuku: The Greenhouse of Memory
Client: Anonymous

Shifuku is the third installment in Andoreni Erazo’s “father-gentleman” series, a musical tribute to a man who endured hardship with grace and gave everything for the wellbeing of his daughters. This piece is set in the metaphorical greenhouse of the hero, a sacred space where memories are cultivated like rare flowers, each moment held gently in the palm, ephemeral yet eternal.

The work is a meditation on transience, where the seasons of life pass through in color, scent, and warmth. The flowers, moments of love, of joy, of sacrifice, may fade, but the garden always blooms anew. Shifuku (至福), a Japanese word meaning a complete state of happiness or bliss, encapsulates this idea. It is not simply joy, but a quiet contentment, a spiritual surrender to life’s cycles.

The music evokes a sense of contemplation and gratitude, as if one were walking through this greenhouse at dusk, surrounded by the legacy of love. There is also an underlying question, is Shifuku a transition? A preparation for rebirth in another cultural form, another soul chapter? The piece leaves this open, inviting the listener to pause, reflect, and wonder.
